A Study on Transboundary Marine Governance of Floating Marine Debris—Taking Kinmen–Xiamen Waters between China and Taiwan as an Example

Mainland China’s economy has been developing rapidly. Unfortunately, it led to an increase in municipal and industrial waste, including Xiamen, which is greatly increased. Kinmen located outside the estuary of Jiulong River Fujian, China, opposite Xiamen Bay. Whenever there heavy rainfall, waste that flows along incredible. unavoidably bear invasion floating marine debris due effect ocean currents, tides monsoons. It does not only pollute sea area, but also affects scenery beaches Kinmen. Therefore, this study aimed explore data governments regarding cleaning debris, differences distribution areas according monsoon, current tides. In-depth interviews, field investigation, collection expert opinions were applied order determine research implication. The results provide information on issues encountered governance countries surrounding sea. suggests transboundary mechanism should be established effectively solve problem Kinmen–Xiamen Waters. For welfare people, expected China Taiwan will uphold principle “pragmatism reciprocity” by working together maintain environment waters.
